The Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York played host to the 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony on Friday, March 29th. There was no shortage of music as several renowned artists / bands were inducted. Artists become eligible for the Rock Hall twenty-five years after their first commercial recording. While ballots are sent to thousands inside the music industry, several years ago, fans were also allowed to weigh in on their favorites. This year of fifteen top choices was eventually whittled down to seven.

The Cure
Debuting in 1979 with their album “Three Imaginary Boys”, the Cure first became part of the new wave/alternative post-punk music scene in the UK. Word from the Cure’s front man, Robert Smith, is the band’s 14th studio album is completed but with no release date.

Def Leppard
The band from Sheffield broke onto the music scene with their self-titled EP in January 1979 before releasing their first full album, “On Through the Night”, in 1980. Def Leppard had major success with albums “Pyromania” and “Hysteria” in the 1980’s and will have a Las Vegas residency as well as touring in 2019.

Janet Jackson
Part of the musically talented Jackson family, Janet Jackson released her self-titled debut album, “Janet”, in 1982, following up with hit records “Control” and “Rhythm Nation”. She will also be performing at a Las Vegas residency in 2019.

Stevie Nicks
Having previously been inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 as part of the legendary band, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks was honored for her solo work. After working with Fleetwood Mac, she kicked off her solo career with the successful “Bella Donna” record. She will be on tour with Fleetwood Mac during the summer.

Radiohead
Radiohead’s debut album, “Pablo Honey” was released in February 1993 and rose to success from the single “Creep”. Successful albums such as “Kid A” and “In Rainbows” followed. Radiohead will be performing a number of tour dates in 2019.

Roxy Music
The English glam rock band, Roxy Music, debuted in June 1972 with their self-titled album. After their heyday in the 1970s and early 1980s, various lineups of Roxy Music continued to perform up until 2011.

The Zombies
The Zombies’ self-titled debut album was released in January 1965 following the success of the hit single, “She’s Not There”. The band would officially split up in 1967.
